Introduction

The genus Drosera in Africa consists of 47 described species, and many more that have yet to be described. While most of the described species are endemic to South Africa's Cape Floral Region, Drosera are widespread in Africa and have been recorded from all but the driest countries. Drosera have evolved an array of life history strategies in a variety of habitats, from annual species in seasonally dry areas, to perennially growing species in permanently wet places, and to species which survive seasonal changes through dormancy. This wide range of habits and habitats comes with an incredible diversity of forms, and this site represents years of effort to document this diversity.
